ICP SALCON

Industrial Concrete Products Bhd (ICP), Southeast Asia’s largest pre-tensioned spun concrete piles (PSC piles) manufacturer, is likely to benefit the most from the piling and foundation works for the RM4.3 billion bridge.

China Harbour Engineering Co, the lead contractor in the consortium for the project, had previously partnered ICP, a 63.99% subsidiary of IJM Corp Bhd, on a project in China.

At a recent meeting with The Edge Financial Daily, ICP managing director and chief executive Harry Khor Kiem Teoh said the firm’s business was running as usual. In fact, ICP was getting a lot busier than before with increased local and overseas orders, he said.

Sources said ICP’s order book may have been fattened by new orders for the electrified double-tracking rail project, which requires an estimated 300,000 tonnes of piles for the entire project.

ICP was also believed to have landed new orders from a Singapore contractor involved in the construction of a biodiesel plant and a solar panel manufacturing plant in that country. The two plants would require more than 130,000 tonnes of piles.

ICP’s net income for its third quarter ended Dec 31, 2007 rose 73.27% to RM21.39 million, or 5.8 sen a share, from RM12.34 million a year earlier, while revenue increased 47.91% to RM203.4 million from RM137.52 million. (The Edge)

SALCON Bhd's subsidiaries have secured two water projects in China worth RMB209 million (RM93.79) from the People's Government of Changle County, Shangdong Province, China. These two projects comprise RMB100 million for the construction of a new 100,000 m3/day water treatment plant and RMB109 million for a raw water supply project.
