Tenaga Nasional Bhd climbed the most in a month in Kuala Lumpur trading as coal prices dropped, lowering the company's generation costs.
The shares rose 2.5 per cent to RM6.25 at 9.22am on the Bursa, set for their biggest gain since Feb 13.
Prices for coal shipped from South Africa's Richards Bay, site of the world's largest export terminal for the fuel, fell to an average of US$57 a metric ton in the week ended March 6, according McCloskey, the lowest since 2007, on weaker European and Indian demand. Prices have dropped 27 per cent this year.
