Karambunai eco-resort to create 15,000 jobs (BT)

The Karambunai Econature Integrated Resort is expected to create 15,000-20,000 jobs in Sabah, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman today.

He said the project, one of the 133 entry point projects announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in the 2011 National Budget, is aimed at giving the Sabah people the opportunity of being part of it with jobs for the locals and hence improved economy for them.

The resort is to be developed at a cost of RM6.5 billion and will cover 1,349 hectares of land in Karambunai near here over a 10-year period.

Musa said the project was apt for Sabah which is aiming to become a key ecotourism state in Malaysia.
