Malaysia Stock Market - Sentiment Index

Asian stock markets opened higher Monday amid investor optimism that U.S. lawmakers will reach a last-minute deal to raise the government's debt limit and avoid a default.

Local sentiment reversed into optimism with the Intra-day Oscillator floating well above the neutral level for the whole session. The Oscillator end at its day-high at +737.81; gained 330.79 when compares with its starting point. The Average recorded a gain of 509.87.

At the end of the day, %K(yellow) of MSCD recorded as -118.79 (+114.26), %D(red) -136.89 (+51.76) and the Histogram -11.39 (+7.37). Both indicators bounced sharply and %K returned to to uptrend channel. The Histogram printed a shorter negative bar.

Overall market sentiment cheered by the hope for the US debt deal but investors remained cautious as prices were only marginally higher across the board. 

As US House has approved the debt ceiling bill and Senate is expected to vote for the bill on Tuesday, our market will continue to move forward led by blue-chips.
