Malaysia Stock Market - Sentiment Index

Asian stock markets were mostly higher Wednesday, as favorable earnings reports lifted the Sydney market. Chipmakers dented Tokyo, however, after Dell lowered its full-year revenue target.

"Panic-selling seems to have stopped for now, but various fundamental problems (in the U.S. and Europe) have not been resolved so a rebound in shares in the U.S. and Japan will be slow," said Kenichi Hirano, operating officer at Tachibana Securities.

Local sentiment was seen lingering in hesitation with the Intra-day Oscillator zigzagging along the same level just about 100 points above the neutral line. However, last hour nibbling pulled the Oscillator to end at day-high at +393.74; gained 211.47 when compares with its starting point. The Average recorded a gain of 138.23.

At the end of the day, %K(yellow) of MSCD recorded as -298.80 (+79.43), %D(red) -403.62 (+87.00) and the Histogram -110.06 (+53.72).

Both indicators edged higher but below the resistance line. The Histogram printed yet another shorter negative bar.

Conclusion

Market appetite was affected by global uncertainties with volume declined to below one billion shares. However, buying on weaknesses remains a strategy to investor especially on those quality Smallcaps.
