Malaysia Stock Market - Sentiment Index

Asian shares were mostly down Monday in volatile trading amid subdued sentiment, while traders in Tokyo remained on high alert for yen-selling intervention by Japanese authorities after the currency advanced to a fresh record high on Friday.

"Another record level for gold and continued buying of bonds appear to indicate that globally investors are looking for a safety-first approach," said Michael McCarthy, chief market strategist at CMC Markets in Sydney. "While shares look cheap on current measures, concerns about the global outlook may push them further into value territory."

Local sentiment eventually followed the major trend subsided with the Intra-day Oscillator opened in the red and slid deeper after the break. The Oscillator finished off low at -719.30; lost 479.84 when compares with its starting point. The Average recorded a loss of 627.27.

At the end of the day, %K(yellow) of MSCD recorded as -450.96 (-32.04), %D(red) -459.66 (-13.41) and the Histogram -37.40 (+11.52).

Both indicators fell slightly and %K remained above %D. The Histogram printed a shorter negative bar.

Conclusion

Market sentiment continued to recede but in slower pace. Chart wise, the continuous round bottoming process of the histogram is a plus. The declining volume is evident that selling was mild. Many investors are holding their positions while waiting for a better scenario.
