Yinson bids for RM800m jobs (Star)

YINSON Holdings Bhd, an integrated offshore services provider, is bidding for nearly RM1 billion contracts to add to its RM1.25 billion jobs in hand.

"We are currently bidding for contracts worth RM800 million in the regional marine transport industry and our existing orderbook stands at about RM1.25 billion in total," Yinson chairman and managing director Lim Han Weng said.

Yinson is looking to add to the momentum gained from a RM1.01 billion contract secured in Vietnam recently in a bid to become a premier oil and gas services provider in the region.

The contract is in line with the transport company's plans to turn it into an oil and gas entity, Lim said in a statement yesterday.

He said as the scene is currently favourable in the regional oil and gas industry, Yinson will continue to explore business opportunities in the industry in Asia Pacific, particularly Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand.

Yinson posted a revenue of RM549.9 million in the first nine months of financial year 2012, an increase of 12.4 per cent from the RM489 million a year ago.

Its net profit stood at RM20.7 million, 76.5 per cent higher than the RM11.7 million net profit registered previously.
