Sumatec Resources Bhd shares saw brisk trading yesterday on increased expectations that privately held Markmore Sdn Bhd is on the verge of making a major announcement this month. Two years ago in November, Sumatec inked a deal with Markmore Energy (Labuan) Ltd (MELL), a unit controlled by Markmore and whose directors are Halim and Abu Talib Abdul Rahman. Halim holds a 99.9% stake in Markmore. Subsequently, Sumatec told the stock exchange that it had entered into a framework agreement with MELL for the proposed award of a project by the latter’sunit, CaspiOilGas LLP. CaspiOilGas is the concession holder and operator of the Shelly oil field in Kazakhstan. Btimes
