Bursa Malaysia Plans To Launch Relaxed Framework For Short-selling

Investors can expect a relaxed framework for short-selling activities in the first half of next year, Bursa Malaysia Bhd's chief executive officer Datuk Yusli Mohamed Yusoff said Wednesday.
The effort was part of initiative to make the local market more attractive for investment, he said.

"Our framework has been very tightly regulated but the frameworks in other markets are much less regulated. The rules vary from market to market. We see room for further relaxation to make it more attractive," Yusli said.
The rules are designed to prevent abuses of short-selling, he said.
